Advantages and disadvantages of laser cutting

Laser cutting has been widely used in various fields, but what are the disadvantages of it, you know?

Advantage:

1. without mould limit, saving mold resources: laser processing plasticity, class processing arbitrary graphics, and does not need mold, reduce production costs.

2. cutting speed, can reach 40m/min, much faster than wire cutting.

3. because of the fast cutting speed, all cutting surfaces are smooth and the cutting surface has no burrs.

4. will not damage the product, laser cutting head will not contact with the surface of the material, so it will not scratch the product.

5. because it does not need to contact cutting, the speed is fast, so the cutting edge heating effect is very small, will not cause the heating deformation and the edge collapse phenomenon.

6. can cut a variety of materials, not only for steel plate, stainless steel, aluminum alloy and other metal cutting, but also plastic, wood, leather, plexiglass, acrylic and other non-metallic cutting.

7. cutting seam narrow, high precision. The laser beam can be focused into very small spots to form a slit with a narrow width. The kerf width is generally 0.10 ~ 0.20mm; the cutting accuracy is high, the positioning accuracy is 0.05mm, and the repeatability positioning accuracy is 0.02 mm.

Shortcoming:

1. laser cutting equipment price is high, processing cost is big.

2. cutting heat conduction fast, high reflective material is not good cutting, like copper already copper alloy material is not easy to cut.

3. because the heat conduction is fast, so it is easy to deform when cutting thin plate, and cutting mesh plate products will produce thermal deformation, which is not suitable for mesh parts processing.

4., the surface of the material will appear black or oxidation phenomenon, but can wipe clean.
